UK’s Biggest Lan Party to be Streamed Live

With less than a week until insomnia43 kicks off, organiser Multiplay has announced this summer’s festival is set to be the biggest LAN party the UK has ever seen. To celebrate this achievement, Multiplay has partnered with own3D for live streaming of the festival. Through own3Ds smart livestreaming technology, those who are missing out on the weekend’s events can watch a smooth HD experience from the comfort of their homes.

Over 2,000 multiplayer gamers will fill the Gaming Halls, bringing along their own PCs and Xbox 360 consoles to compete in the tournaments. This number surpasses the record set at insomnia34 making it the largest LAN party not only in the history of insomnia events, but in the UK.

The total prize pot stands at £50,000, spread across twelve tournaments which include Counter-Strike: Source, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, FIFA 11 onElectronic Theatre Image Xbox 360, Team Fortress 2 and Heroes of Newerth. The largest individual prizes vary between £2,500 and £15,000.

“We are delighted to have own3D on board for our biggest LAN party in the history of insomnia events,” says Craig Fletcher, Managing Director, Multiplay. “The online live feeds proved incredibly popular at past events with upwards of 70,000 people tuning in. We wanted to make sure that those who can’t make the event receive the best live coverage possible, and own3D are the best in the business to do this.”

The exhibition hall will showcase abundance of prizes including cash, hardware and peripherals from a number of leading retailers and sponsors including Currys, PC World, Samsung, Medion, liyama, ASUS, Riot Games, Aquatuning, ESET UK, Sapphire, Anthony Nolan, Kingston, Pro Class TV, Quiet PC, Razer, Triple Widescreen, Ttesports, Kustom PC and Antec.

Taking place over August Bank Holiday weekend (26th-29th August, 2011) at the Telford International Centre, there is something for gamers of all ages and abilities. They key element of insomnia events is competitive gaming but the social activities will also be highly prominent.

The World of Cyber Games tournament will consist of the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty UK National Final, the League of Legends UK National Final and eight qualifiers will be chosen to attend the Eurogamer Expo final for Tekken 6 Xbox 360 and FIFA 11 Xbox 360 tournament.
